UsingAigaion/GuestAccess
From AigaionWiki
It is possible to make (parts of) your Aigaion database publicly available. This is done through guest accounts or anonymous accounts (both terms are actually used in different places in the system).
Allowing guest access
In order to allow guest access you need to perform the following steps.
- create a new user account (e.g. named 'guest', or 'anon').
- set the new account to be an 'anonymous account'.
- assign a sensible collection of rights to the account (see below)
- configure the site to turn on 'anonymous access' (on the Site Configuration page).
- select the new account to be used as the default guest account.
- set the appropriate topics to be 'public' readable (not necessarily all of them)
- set the appropriate publications to be 'public' readable (this may best be done by collecting them on the bookmarklist, and then setting all publications on the bookmarklist to public. To add all publications to the bookmarklist go to <aigaion_root>/bookmarklist/addtopic/1).
- subscribe the guest account to the appropriate topics
Anonymous access and user rights
- don't give a guest user any edit rights - you don't want to assign edit rights to guest accounts, as that would mean that any spambot or vandal would be allowed to modify your database!
- don't give a guest user bookmarklist right - it would be terribly confusing to have a bookmarklist which can simultaneously be changed by any user currently accessing the database as guest user. Therefore it is not possible to assign bookmarklist rights to a guest account.
Anonymous access and copyrights
The page about attachments reads:
When you have downloaded a publication, e.g. from the publishers site or from your library, you do not necessarily have the right to make that file public to all the world. It is a good idea not to set the access level of a publication to 'public' unless you are very certain of your right to do so. When in doubt, keep the attachment intern or private, and use the DOI to give anonymous guests access to the publication contents.
